The Palace of Versailles is simply breathtaking! When the royal château was built, Versailles was merely a country village, but today it has developed into a wealthy suburb of Paris. The court of Versailles was the center of political power in France from 1682 until the royal family was forced to leave in 1789 because of the beginning of the French Revolution. The palace itself is beautiful architecture, however once inside it is wall to wall with stunning paintings and chandeliers.
The Hall of Mirrors is one of the most well known parts of the palace, it is lined with seventeen mirror-clad arches. Each arch contains twenty-one mirrors adding up to a total of 357 mirrors!
The Garden is filled with 200,000 trees, 210,000 flowers, 50 fountains, water jets, sculptures and a canal!
